Meet Pearl and Mason – Loving Sibling Pair Who Adore Human Touch and Praise
These two seven-month-old pups came from a litter of 11 shepherd-mix siblings. With little exposure of the world and anxious about being separated from the litter, Mason and Pearl quickly became co-dependent. We knew the best place for them was a safe, quiet foster home where they could slowly learn to relax and become more trusting. Their foster found them to be fun, sweet and loving. They are reserved at first but gradually become more energetic and playful. They are willing and eager to please, very treat motivated and a perfect age for training. They respond well to correction and have displayed no negative behavior like growling or barking. They dote on human touch and praise; both benefit from positive reinforcement, rewards and reassurance.
Despite being dependent on each other for security, Mason and Pearl are learning that gentle separation allows them to be independent and develop their individual personalities. They cry when apart or not able to see each other but are learning with playful distraction that their lives are still secure.
Both dogs are crate trained and house trained but need frequent potty breaks given their age. Since being at a foster home they have been exposed to the happenings of family and outdoor life: vacuum cleaners, lawn mowers, trash cans, runners, bikers, cars, trucks, and airplanes. Both dogs do very well with other canines, both big and small. They tolerate cats. Not sure about children. Will need introducing. Both dogs have good leash manner and know many commands: Sit. Down. Leave it. Wait. Slowly. Stay.
We would love for Mason and Pearl to go to a home together but realize that might not be possible. If you are interested, the foster parent is willing to introduce either one or both pups and share their traits and experiences with you.
