With two convenient locations, Prairie Dog Pet Mercantile is a great local pet store to find all your furry friends the perfect gifts. Everything a pet owner needs you can find: raw food, freeze-dried treats, chew toys, cat scratchers and chasers, bowls and lick mats, dog and cat clothing, beds, blankets, and all sorts of grooming and health supplies. There is no doubt that you’ll easily find a stocking stuffer or a gift under the tree for your paw-some pal.

Your pup will never get tired of getting treats in their stocking—The Doggy District sells a variety of delicious treats for them. From Cluck N’ Waffles and Barkday Cake to Quack Sticks, Rue’s Chews, and even a DIY dog-friendly brownie kit, you’ll easily find a treat that your floof will love. Great news: The Doggy District will be in town at River Park Square for the BrrrZaar event! Check them out from 10 am to 8 pm December 13th to get your stocking stuffers.

Looking for a collar that is as unique as your dog? Alaska Leash has over 30 designs of cat and dog collars available. Julie created this company in 2005 after researching and developing her own reliable collars and leashes. Alaska Leash even sells leashes for walking one, two, or three dogs at a time! Every treat, chew, and charcuterie board is made of all-natural and pet-safe ingredients that pups of all diets can enjoy. Fetch Barkery’s goods look so delicious we want to eat them ourselves. This wonderful local bakery bakes goods that will have your bark buddy drooling at first sight. Their biscuits, donuts, pies, beer, cakes and cupcakes are all dog-safe (and look oh-so-tasty!). This time of year, Fetch Barkery is promoting a Holiday Dinner for your Bestie (starting December 23rd) that includes the choice of a beef stew, broiled cod, or roasted chicken dinner. This dinner even includes the option to add on holiday carob cakes, sweet potato pie, pup cup hot “cocoa”, and more. If you’re just looking for some treats, they have a Holiday Biscuit Box with tasty and festive-looking treats too.

PetSmart is one of our go-to holiday shopping locations because of the great deals and variety. For your cheery canine, PetSmart has various holiday themed squeaky toys and stuffies, and do not skip out on the great enrichment items such as the treat dispensers by Kong! For your merry meower, Santa Claws may gift them the Merry & Bright scratchers, wands, tents/tunnels or plush toys. PetSmart also has soft, cozy blankets and beds for all your pets this season. If you’re unsure what to get your friend or family for Christmas, PetSmart gift cards make valuable stocking stuffers.

These giving trees are exactly as they are named—they are giving the pets in our care a chance to experience the holiday cheer before they find their forever home, and they are giving our community members the supplies they need to keep their family together.
Whether you’re giving gifts or just spending time with your loved ones, it is all the same as long as you cherish the magical moments that happen around you. Here at SHS, we are incredibly fortunate to have such a loving and thoughtful community. We only wish to return that delight by highlighting our wonderful local stores, filling our community food pantry, and sharing warm smiles with the two- and four-legged friends that walk our way!
