Without this procedure, Chancho will continue to have difficulty walking and may eventually become immobile.
Chancho, a 4-year-old Germand Shepherd, was surrendered to SHS in April. This sweet boy is an active, water-loving, and affectionate boy who has so much life left to live.
Unfortunately, Chancho was adopted and returned when found he was not the right fit for his new adopters. But when he was returned, it was noted that both of his elbows were enlarged. Our SHS clinical staff assessed Chancho and completed diagnostics to determine that he has severe bilateral elbow joint disease.
Elbow joint disease is difficult to treat
One of the best options for treatment is surgical scoping of the joints (arthroscopy). When this procedure is completed, the surgeon is essentially cleaning out these joints which will allow Chancho to be less painful when walking and return to a normal activity level.
Donate to our STAR Fund
Without this procedure, Chancho will continue to have difficulty walking and may eventually become immobile. At SHS, our animals are our top priority. If you can, can you please donate to Chancho? SHS staff want him to have the best quality life and this procedure will allow him to live a healthier, and more active life.
