“SHS rang in the new year with a puppy palooza! Over the past 2 weeks, we have brought in 29 puppies and counting (more scheduled to come in next week).” Foster Coordinator, Amanda Smith.
SHS wants to stress the importance of our spay and neuter clinic to avoid unwanted litters and overflowing local shelters with puppies and kittens. Find information HERE.

There was a recent intake of seven (named after the seven dwarfs) mixed breed pups; the momma dog was a Labradoodle and the dad’s breeds were unknown. These pups were a transfer from Okandogs, a full shelter located in Cashmere, WA. Thankfully the momma dog is getting spayed through the program “Mom’s Last Litter.” Dopey, Grumpy, Sleepy, Bashful, and Sneezy have been happily adopted through BARK, A Rescue Pub this week!
A red heeler mix named Pluto was surrendered to SHS by a breeder who asked for him to be euthanized because he was not a working dog (he wasn’t herding the cattle) but he was a companion animal wanting to play and snuggle. He was placed in foster for a week before going to PetSmart Northpointe; he found his forever family after three days.
Florence, a two-month-old mixed breed puppy was surrendered from an unwanted litter. This adorable pup is available this weekend at PetSmart.
Aston, Rover, Bugatti, Cadillac, Royce, and Bentley were also from an unwanted litter. Meet Bugatti and Cadillac puppies in person at PetSmart!
Sapphire (still available at PetSmart Northpointe) came to SHS with her gem puppies: Opal, Jade, Selenite, Agate, Topaz, Citrine, Onyx, and Ruby. These 8 mixed breed puppies were placed in foster care until they were old enough for their spay/neuter surgeries, and then they were transferred to PetSmart Northpointe for adoption. Opal and Jade are still available at PetSmart.
