On May 20th and 22nd, our clinic held a reduced fee of $25 feline spay and neuter event which aimed to provide affordable spay/neuters for our low-income community. Through this event, made possible by the Summerlee Foundation, 35 kitties were spayed and neutered.
Spaying and neutering animals is not just a procedure, it’s a responsibility. It’s a way to ensure our pets live longer, healthier lives. By reducing the number of unwanted animals that end up at shelters or abandoned as strays, it’s a way to protect our community. And by significantly impacting your pet’s life expectancy, it’s a way to show your pet how much you care. Spaying and neutering can also reduce unwanted behaviors such as urine-marking, spraying, and aggressive behavior, making your pet’s life more comfortable and enjoyable.[1]
This program provides the opportunity for low-income individuals to affordably spay and neuter their animals, not only benefiting their pet’s health, but positively impacting the greater community. Spokane Humane Society’s clinic offers many services for low-income individuals including spaying and neutering, vaccines, micro-chipping at a fraction of regular costs. To qualify, you must be considered low-income and demonstrate that you are a recipient of a public assistance program. Explore our services and schedule an appointment here.
In addition to our veterinary services, Spokane Humane Society has a pet food pantry located in the lobby of our main shelter. We have bagged dog and cat food that is free to provide for your animals. Take as much as you need!
