This past Sunday marked the final day of PetSmart Charities’ National Adoption Week. It was immensely rewarding to spread the love of our shelter animals with the greater Spokane community and to see so many of them find their forever homes throughout the week. We are overjoyed to share that we adopted 64 animals at our PetSmart Charities Everyday Adoption Center during National Adoption Week! A big thank you to everyone who supported us during National Adoption Week by sharing our social media posts, donating to our shelter, and of course, taking our animals home. Let’s celebrate a few of the most memorable adoptions of National Adoption Week! 
We have quite a few animals who have been with us for over six months. Our staff always feels a special kinship with these animals because we spend so much time with them during their shelter stay, and when they finally find their forever homes, they are the adoptions that stick with us. This is the case for Momo, a darling seven-year-old lab mix who had been with us for over 300 days. This sweet boy met his forever family on Saturday, and we are overjoyed that he is finally in the loving home he deserves! 
Another favorite adoption of the week was Hank, our 121-pound Newfoundland-mix. Hank brought so much joy and laughter to our shelter due to his huge size and goofy personality. Our staff loved to take him on walks and show him off to the community and it was always fun to watch people gasp as he walked by! Hank found a loving home with a family who owns 10 acres of land and will spend the rest of his life running and playing with his new doggy friend and an incredible family! 
It’s kitten season, and we’ve had hundreds of tiny kitties in our care the last few months. Many of them came to SHS around the same time but were too small to be adopted and were placed in foster care while they grew a bit bigger. This week, many of these kittens were big enough to be adopted and came to PetSmart. We had a continuous stream of kitten adoptions throughout the week, and it was so fun to watch these tiny babies meet their forever families!
Our team at Spokane Humane Society is grateful for our invaluable partnership with PetSmart Charities. Their support has made our Everyday Adoption Center a cornerstone in providing our animals with the second chances they deserve. Events like National Adoption Week are instrumental in giving our animals the visibility they need to find loving homes. This continued effort and collaboration help us change lives and create lasting bonds between pets and their new families. Thank you for making such a significant impact on our community.
