In the midst of disaster, a beacon of light can be found. Kennel Quilts is a shining example of caring individuals coming together to support pets during difficult times. We are incredibly grateful to Kennel Quilts for their hard work and dedication to helping animals, one quilt at a time.
Kennel Quilts is a volunteer organization that supports animal shelters affected by disasters. Their organization was formed in the wake of Hurricane Sandy in 2012. They partner with the Petfinder Foundation and are made up of over 2300 members.
This amazing organization has distributed over 110,000 cotton kennel quilts to animal shelters across the United States during times of need.
After the Spokane fires began spreading, Kennel Quilts worked with the Petfinder Foundation to determine where they could provide assistance.
Kennel quilters from across the country have already sent more than 500 kennel quilts to Spokane Humane Society and the Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service (SCRAPS). These quilts have provided comfort to displaced pets, families who have lost their homes in the fires, and other animals in need.
As we continue to assess the needs of our community as it recovers from this disaster, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Kennel Quilt team. Their quilts will be included in the care packages we are compiling for families affected by the fires and will also provide comfort to pets who may need to be surrendered to our care.
A quilt may seem like a simple donation, but the Kennel Quilt team pours love and care into each piece, helping pets find a little comfort during a time of tragedy. Their beautiful quilts will truly bring comfort to families and pets alike for weeks to come.
