Inlander Best Poll: We have had an amazing year of accomplishments and dedication to caring for countless animals in need and continuing to do so with an exciting future ahead– we hope you agree! Vote Spokane Humane Society as Spokane’s best local non-profit through Inlander’s “Best of the Inland Northwest” readers’ poll. The work we have been doing for 126+ years is based solely on the support from our community, as we receive zero government funding. Truthfully, SHS is you! Help us celebrate and recognize our partners, donors, team members, volunteers, and most of all our furry friends. Vote HERE.
STCU’s Volunteer Nomination Campaign: We have some incredible, dedicated volunteers who show up every day, during holidays, and through any weather. Our team is truly thankful for the care they provide the animals and the help they provide our hardworking team. Let’s honor and recognize them by nominating them through STCU and KXLY 4’s “Volunteers Count”. Vote HERE.

Here are a few special adoptions throughout the month:
Star-Lord – Star-Lord was transferred from a local partnering shelter due to a severe fracture of his right tibia/fibula. After his amputation, Star-Lord became a big bundle of energy! He was transferred around our three adoption locations but didn’t have any potential adopters. After four months of shelter living, Star-Lord found his forever home and SHS is so happy to see him go home with an awesome support system and three human friends who can keep him busy.
Woody – Since arriving at SHS, Woody was placed in foster care as he recovered from a severe upper respiratory infection. Now he is #happyandhealthy! Woody found his forever family at the adoption center in PetSmart Northpointe. Woody is FIV+. FIV, short for Feline immunodeficiency virus, is a retrovirus infection. While FIV is not spread through passive contact (clothes, environment, respiratory secretions), it is spread through saliva (cat-to-cat play/fight interactions, biting, scratching, blood contamination). FIV cannot be transmitted to dogs. Cats that are FIV+ can still live long, healthy lives!
Dozer Dude – This adorable boy first arrived at SHS back in October of 2022, over a year later he finally found his forever home this January. Dozer Dude required a home with no young children, no cats, and no small dogs. These limitations held Dozer back from potential adopters, but SHS is so thankful he finally found the perfect family.
See Saw – This sweet girl was in foster care for three months awaiting a dental procedure. Her procedure was completed at VCA Animal Hospital thanks to SHS’s generous donors. After a month of recovery, See Saw found her forever family!
