December – 109 adoptions

We are so excited to announce that 109 animals were happy in home just in time for the holidays!

December was an amazing month for SHS and a fantastic conclusion of 2023.

Christmas wish-lists were a success! This year SHS posted specific items on social media from our Christmas wish lists including pet food, fun dog toys, and foster care supplies. Most of our donations were sent it from Amazon or dropped off in person at our shelter location; we even had a few community members specifically bring in a Jolly Pets Teaser Ball for Bruno and a Jolly Pets Romp-n-Roll toy for Enzo. Thank you for donating! Make sure you’re following our Instagram and Facebook to see updates and important information regarding our available animals.

At the beginning of December, SHS announced the completion of the kennel renovation. Read the blog HERE, as well as our staff’s perspective on the new upgrade HERE.

Here are a few special adoptions throughout the month:

Bub

Bub – This kitty was sweet and spicy! He came to SHS in September 2023, as a three-year-old Abyssinian Domestic Shorthair. After showing aggression towards people, Bub was placed in Purris (SHS cat room for shy nervous kitties). We are so glad he found his forever family!

Apollo – This seven-year-old senior arrived at SHS back in May 2023. Over 200 days later, Apollo was adopted through the Pets for Vets Adoption Fund gifted by Rover.com.

Quiche – This two-year-old Domestic Shorthair arrived at SHS back in March 2023. She was a shy, quiet girl who liked to hide. Nine months later, Quiche is happy in home.

Hank

Hank – This adorable one and a half year old pup was found as a stray after his family moved away and abandoned him on their property. After arriving at SHS in August 2023, Hank often showed his teeth when threatened; he was a shy timid boy. After 17 days in foster, and lots of love from his temporary family, he found his forever family.

Spokane Humane Society is starting off the new year with puppies… and a lot of them!!! Read about SHS’s overflow of puppies HERE, and sign up to be a foster HERE.
