Love Your Pet Today, and Every Day!
National Love Your Pet Day is just one of the days of the year where you can be reminded of the joy, loyalty, and warmth your pet brings to your life. Your fur friend has you for their entire life, but they’re only in yours for a short period. Spend this day, and many more, giving your pet love and showing them how grateful you are for the memories you create together.
No matter what species your pet is, we know they make each of your days brighter with their company. Here are some ways you can celebrate this special day.
Brighten Their Day with a Treat
- Get your companion a new toy. Check out Northpointe PetSmart (9950 N Newport Hwy) for all the latest toys and accessories for your feline, canine or other companions. Looking for an alternative? Make some easy DIY toys with items you already have in your home. And, of course, enjoy some extra playtime with your fur baby—these joyful moments mean the world to them.
- Find a tasty treat or meal for your pet to enjoy. Read our “Helpful Holiday Shopping Guide” blog to find new places that sell delicious goodies for your little buddy. If your love language is cooking or baking, make some homemade treats for your pal. Try out these easy, dog-friendly treat recipes, and for your friendly felines, explore these cat-approved snacks.
- Treat your best friend to a spa day. Your companion would surely find a relaxing, fresh shampoo and a pawdicure as a show of affection. Check out PetSmart’s grooming services, Grooming by Brytany, Lil Bit of Grooming, or other local groomers to treat your fabulous friend.
Share Special Moments
Every day is a special day with your companions. You can try sprucing up your pet’s day by taking them somewhere new!
- Take your pup (or kitty) on an adventure, letting them explore a new hiking trail or even just a different neighborhood.
- If they have never gone through a drive-thru, let your pet experience it with you for the first time—and perhaps get a yummy dessert while you’re at it!
- Letting your pet explore a new area in your home can also be fun for them. This may be your office, laundry room, the cabinets above your refrigerator, your garage, or some other nook and cranny that they’ve never seen before.
Some other ways to make quality time seem extra special is by giving them extra head scratches and kisses or even photographing these cherished moments so you can remember them for years to come.
Show Shelter Pets Some Love
If you don’t have a pet or are wanting to give affection to animals who are still waiting to find their home, here are some ways you can spread the love:
- Volunteer at our organization. There are many ways you can contribute to their well-being.
- Foster some animals. Provide a temporary, loving home for pets who aren’t ready to be adopted due to age or medical needs.
- Donate pet supplies or funds toward our mission. Show your love for pets by supporting our STAR Fund, which provides medical care and special treatments for animals in need. Also, donated items help our community members make their companions feel special.
- Share our social media posts (Facebook, Instagram), and blogs. Sharing our posts helps animals in our care find a home sooner so they can experience this national holiday with their furever family in the future.
