education

Our shelter provides a safe haven to animals for as long as it takes for them to find a permanent home. Seeing an animal find a loving family is what really gets our tails wagging. In light of our desire to promote adoptions as one of our primary pet services, our shelter hours are listed at the bottom of our website. If you’re interested in adopting a pet, pay us a visit! We also strongly encourage you and your family to spend some time at our animal shelter interacting with our pets to make sure you find one that you can give a loving forever home to, who makes each day better & brighter for you and your family.

classroom visits

Spokane Humane Society can provide classroom visits on a variety of shelter and pet related topics, including dog bite prevention presentations that are geared towards teaching young students safety with animals.

visit and tour the shelter

We give tours from groups of kids 5 years and older! These tours include a cat or dog themed activity, as well as a visit to the cat rooms, dog kennel, and small animal room. If the stars align, you may even get to view a surgery in progress at our low-cost spay and neuter clinic. Visitors are encouraged to bring dog and cat treats, and small amounts of leafy lettuce (not iceberg lettuce) for rabbits and other small pets.

Tours are given between 10 am – 4 pm, Monday through Friday. Weekend tours are available on a limited basis and must be booked well in advance. Tour length is between 45 min – 1 hour, depending on the age of the group. Tour groups must consist of five or more people.
